NAW Innovators Summit 2026: your catalog is only as good as your worst supplier feed

The NAW Innovators Summit brought distribution executives to The Joseph in Nashville on September 16–18, 2026. Anglera's Ray Iyer joined NAW CRO Dan Schuberth for a fireside chat on the least glamorous problem in distribution: supplier data.

Fireside chat with Dan Schuberth: turning broken supplier data into a digital experience that sells

Supplier data arrives as a 14-tab spreadsheet, a PDF catalog last updated in 2019, a portal login, an eleven-field EDI feed and an email attachment called IMG_4471.jpg. The conversation covered what that costs downstream and what changes when AI reads every source instead of guessing.

Takeaways

  1. 1

Manual onboarding doesn't scale. At 30–45 minutes per SKU, 10,000 new SKUs is about 5,000 hours of work, and the result is still typically 30–50% attribute-complete.

  2. 2

The cost is downstream, not the hours. Zero-result searches, interchangeable product pages, AI assistants that can't recommend you, and reps answering questions the page should have.

  3. 3

AI stopped guessing and started reading. Read every source, apply the distributor's rules, cross-check, and send disagreements to a person rather than silently into production.

  4. 4

Run it as a practice, not a project. Onboard, enrich, monitor and optimize every week. Product data is inventory, not a renovation.
