Independent commentary · Gartner PIM Magic Quadrant 2026
Gartner named Akeneo a Leader in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Product Information Management Solutions, published 12 October 2026, alongside Inriver, Salesforce (Informatica), Stibo Systems and Syndigo. Built for: modular PIM with wide marketplace activation and a supplier data intake module.
Akeneo is a modular PIM whose weight sits at the two ends of the catalog: getting data in from suppliers and out to marketplaces. Supplier Data Manager takes the files suppliers upload and maps them into your model with AI assistance, and marketplace activation pushes the result to a wide set of channels. PX Insights now reaches into pricing analytics through the PricingHUB acquisition.
Our reading of the report, in our words.
Agentic Ziggy is the AI assistant and agent tooling inside the PIM. Gartner describes it as new enough that buyers should test it thoroughly. In our sort it is assist-tier: your team prompts it, reviews the output and accepts it.
An MCP server lets an AI agent query the PIM directly. It improves access to the record, not what the record contains: when a field is empty, the agent finds the gap faster. All 16 vendors’ MCP status.
Gartner’s definition has 17 features. We sorted every one by what it does to a product record. These are the three a Akeneo shortlist should weigh hardest.
Supplier Data Manager is the intake. How much it saves depends on what the supplier file actually contains.
Left over: Works when the supplier types it in. Most send a PDF.
Marketplace activation is a core reason buyers shortlist Akeneo, and every endpoint has its own required fields.
Left over: Each endpoint’s required fields still have to exist first.
Ziggy sits here, speeding up the person writing and checking each record.
Left over: Someone writes the copy, per SKU, per channel.
Supplier Data Manager maps the columns a supplier sends. It cannot map a value the supplier never sent, and for most technical categories the missing values live in a spec sheet PDF, not the upload.
Marketplace activation then carries whatever is in the record to every channel, gaps included. Ziggy makes the person filling those gaps faster; the person is still the unit of throughput.
None of this is particular to Akeneo. No feature in Gartner’s definition completes a record; every one stores, moves, routes or measures it. Whichever PIM you choose, someone still has to read the supplier documents and fill the fields.
Your PIM stores the data. Anglera does the work.
Anglera works alongside Akeneo. It completes each record against supplier documents, with a citation on every value, and writes the result back into Akeneo. Live in 30 days or less, starting from a flat file.
Gartner named Akeneo a Leader in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Product Information Management Solutions, published 12 October 2026, alongside Inriver, Salesforce (Informatica), Stibo Systems and Syndigo. Sixteen vendors were evaluated in total. Gartner places vendors on ability to execute and completeness of vision; the quadrant says where a vendor sits in the market, not whether it fits your catalog.
By our reading of the 2026 report, Akeneo has MCP work shipped or invested, one of eight vendors in that position. Agentic Ziggy is the AI assistant and agent tooling inside the PIM. Gartner describes it as new enough that buyers should test it thoroughly. In our sort it is assist-tier: your team prompts it, reviews the output and accepts it.
Supplier Data Manager maps the columns a supplier sends. It cannot map a value the supplier never sent, and for most technical categories the missing values live in a spec sheet PDF, not the upload. A PIM gives each product a governed home and enforces which fields are required; finding and filling the missing values is a separate job.
No. Anglera is not a PIM and was not evaluated in the report. It works alongside Akeneo: it completes product records against supplier documents, with a citation on every value, and writes the result back into Akeneo.
Send us a flat file and we’ll show you the completed version against your own schema.
